BOMBA Fire Safety Inspection Malaysia 2026: Is Your Factory or Building Ready?

JBPM carried out 21,000 building inspections in 2025 and issued 11,260 notices nationwide. For factory, warehouse and commercial building owners, this is a timely reminder to ensure fire protection systems are properly maintained and ready for inspection.

Malaysia Is Strengthening Fire Safety Inspections

Fire protection is not something building owners should only think about after receiving an authority notice or when an emergency occurs.

According to a report by BERNAMA dated 9 February 2026, Malaysia's Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) conducted approximately 21,000 building inspections during 2025, exceeding its original target of 18,000 inspections.

During the same period, 11,260 notices were issued to 1,612 premises throughout Malaysia.

What Does This Mean for Factory & Building Owners?

The figures show that fire safety inspections remain an important part of Malaysia's overall fire prevention efforts. Business owners should not assume that an installed system will remain compliant and reliable indefinitely without inspection, testing and maintenance.

πŸ”

Regular Inspection Matters

Fire protection equipment may deteriorate, malfunction or become unsuitable as a building changes over time.

πŸ”§

Maintenance Cannot Wait

A sprinkler, alarm, hydrant or hose reel system must remain operational when an actual emergency happens.

πŸ“‹

Compliance Should Be Planned Early

Early fire safety planning can reduce unexpected rectification work, approval delays and operational disruption.

When Should You Review Your Fire Protection System?

🏭

Factory Expansion

Additional production areas, machinery or storage can change the fire risk profile of the premises.

πŸ“¦

Warehouse Changes

New racks, higher storage levels or different materials may require a review of existing fire protection coverage.

🚨

Existing System Problems

Frequent alarm faults, low pressure, leaking pipes or ageing equipment should not be ignored.
